Hello, my name is Kelly Buxton and I would like to tell you about the most amazing book…..ok enough of the theatrics. I am a mum to two active boys and a full time teacher. I have taught in Year 5 and Year 6 whilst tacking reading lead and year leader. I have found myself researching and consumed with creating and embedding a culture of reading for pleasure. As a child I always had my head in a book, it saddens me to see so many children unable to read, comprehend or find a love of reading. We won’t get into the electronic debate, I have enough of that at home. The school I work at didn’t even have reading lessons! But now we have a fantastic and supportive new head teacher and after a lot of research, we have implemented a whole-class reading strategy. I am currently teaching Year 6, reading lead, voracious reader and advocate of children’s books, exploring the wonderful, magical realms of reading and sharing ideas along the way.
